I normally don't post all of my reviews but, since the frequency of my posting has suffered a little as of late, I wanted to add this link to Lindsey Allen's review from the '
Better After' blog.... Really nice review. I'll be posting more soon, just working on finalizing some pics for the next one. Thanks for reading anyhow. Here's a link to Lindsey's review...
Before and After's
-And, just to keep with the theme, here's a before and after, just for kicks....(this was my Great Grandmother's, Grandmother's, and now my Mother's... part of a whole set ((Luce Furniture Co. from 1920))...More on this later, putting together this post now, so this is just a taste..)
BEFORE
AFTER
Your work is unbelievably gorgeous! I love that you bring it back to life with stain and not paint.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen. It's kind of a preservation thing with me. I always try and bring the piece back to what would be the natural aged color and try and stick with the more traditional style finishes. Really appreciate the compliments.
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I hope it convinces some of those manic spray painters out there to put down their cans and start owning beautiful, heirloom furniture instead of just "cute furniture" that is only saved from the landfill until the fad for painted furniture is over.
ReplyDeleteHAHA. Thank you, Dana. Me too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a complete pleasure to see a blog dedicated to restoring furniture. I am so tired of seeing on to many blogs the trend to slather everything they come in contact with chalk paint. Horrible, nothing about it is "romantic". They ruin for the most part very nice wood pieces. of course in fairness there are some pieces that are not great and paint fixes but everything they see gets painted. I think it is horrible. I love your work. beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank You, Lizzie! Glad you like them!
ReplyDeleteLearning about you from the blog "Better After," and I love your work! She mentioned you perfected the stripping and staining technique... Do you have a post as a tutorial as to how you achieve your beautiful restorations?
